The Fortinet FortiAP 221E (FAP-221E) is a high-performance, dual-radio wireless access point designed for indoor medium-density environments such as offices, classrooms, or smaller retail stores. This Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) access point supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, delivering a maximum data rate of up to 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 400 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band.

Equipped with 2×2 MU-MIMO technology and four internal antennas, the FAP-221E ensures efficient wireless communication for multiple devices simultaneously, enhancing overall network performance. It supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) (IEEE 802.3af), simplifying deployment by eliminating the need for separate power outlets.

A key advantage of the FortiAP 221E is its integration with the Fortinet Security Fabric. It can be centrally managed either by an integrated WLAN controller within any FortiGate security appliance or through the free FortiCloud provisioning and management portal. This unified management approach simplifies operations, allowing for consistent policy enforcement and robust security. Furthermore, it offers built-in Wi-Fi security features, including integrated firewall, IPS, application control, and web filtering, to protect against advanced wireless threats and help satisfy compliance standards like PCI DSS.
