TP-LINK´s TL-SM321B adopts the latest standard 1000Base-BX, transmission over a single strand of fiber, with one different wavelength going in each direction. You can extend the network distance up to 10Km with TP-LINK´s Routers, Switches, Media Converters to provide high speed and stability.

Here’s a detailed description of the TL-SM321B:

  • Type: It’s a 1000Base-BX WDM Bi-Directional SFP module. The “BX” stands for Bi-Directional, and “WDM” stands for Wavelength Division Multiplexing. This is the key feature of this module.
  • Bi-Directional Communication (WDM): Unlike traditional fiber modules that require two separate strands of fiber (one for transmitting and one for receiving), the TL-SM321B uses only a single strand of single-mode fiber. It achieves this by using different wavelengths of light for transmitting and receiving data simultaneously.
    • Transmitting (Tx): The TL-SM321B transmits data at a wavelength of 1310nm.
    • Receiving (Rx): It receives data at a wavelength of 1550nm.
  • Because of this unique wavelength setup, you must use a TL-SM321A module at the other end of the fiber link. The TL-SM321A has the opposite wavelength configuration: it transmits at 1550nm and receives at 1310nm.
  • It works with single-mode fiber (SMF), specifically 9/125 μm.
  • It uses a single LC simplex connector, which is a key physical difference from traditional SFP modules that use an LC duplex connector.
