TL-SM5110-LR 10GBase-LR SFP+ LC Transceiver
The TL-SM5110-LR is designed to extend transfer distances based on 10Gbps Ethernet connectivity. In essence, it is a 10GBASE-LR, high-performance 1310 nm single-mode SFP+ transceiver. Furthermore, it supports full duplex, 10G Ethernet connections up to 10 km, specifically with 9/125µm fiber cables.
First and foremost, it is a Single-mode SFP+ LC Transceiver. In addition, it is Hot-Pluggable, which allows for maximum flexibility. Moreover, it supports Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM). The module is also compatible with the 10G Small Form Pluggable Multi-Source Agreement (SFP+ MSA). Consequently, it is compatible with switches with 10G SFP+ ports, such as the JetStream TL-SG3428X, TL-SG3428XMP, and more.
The TL-SM5110-LR is a high-performance fiber optic transceiver module from TP-Link. Therefore, it’s designed to provide 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for long-distance applications. Clearly, this module is a significant step up from the Gigabit modules (like the TL-SM311 series), and consequently, it is essential for modern, high-speed networks.
Here’s a detailed breakdown of its features and specifications:
First, let’s consider the Module Type: It is a 10GBASE-LR SFP+ LC Transceiver. To clarify, the 10GBASE-LR designation means it’s a 10 Gigabit Ethernet module that uses a “Long Reach” wavelength. Meanwhile, SFP+ (Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus) is the industry standard form factor for 10 Gigabit Ethernet transceivers. As a result, it’s a more compact and lower power consumption alternative to older 10GbE standards like XFP and XENPAK.
Furthermore, regarding the Data Rate: The module supports a data rate of 10 Gbps (10 Gigabit per second), which is ten times faster than standard Gigabit Ethernet modules. Hence, this is crucial for bandwidth-intensive applications in data centers, enterprise networks, and large-scale campus environments.
With respect to the Wavelength: The TL-SM5110-LR operates at a wavelength of 1310nm, which is the standard for long-range, single-mode fiber transmissions.
Likewise, let’s look at the Maximum Distance: The “LR” in its name signifies its long-range capability. Consequently, this module can extend a 10 Gigabit Ethernet connection up to 10 kilometers (approximately 6.2 miles) over single-mode fiber.
